Karen Hensley

Senior Manager, Operations and Communications

Karen joined the Enroll Indy team in July 2018. Her first exposure to the Indianapolis education landscape came as an AmeriCorps VISTA for the Indianapolis Mayor's Office of Education Innovation, which she eventually joined full-time and served for over two years. Karen later worked for Conexus Indiana to promote career and technical education statewide at the high school level. Karen holds an undergraduate degree in communications and a Master of Public Affairs from Indiana University Bloomington.

Why do you do this work?

While I was a VISTA working on the City's GreatSchools grant, I realized just how uneven the access to information about local schools was, especially for families without financial resources or social capital. I was thrilled when Enroll Indy launched during my tenure with the City, and now that I'm here I get to see families from all walks of life receive the resources they deserve every day.
