ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

The vast majority of IPS schools have no special requirements for students to enroll. The schools below, however, are exceptions. If you were sent to this page by your OneMatch confirmation email, review the steps below. These steps only apply to certain grades, so you may have no next steps, in which case your application is final.

Eligibility Requirements

Pre-K: Pre-K is a program, not a grade, under current state law. IPS policy mandates that families wishing to claim a pre-K seat must live within IPS district boundaries (except for the Montessori pre-K programs at School 56, School 87, and School 91).

Grades 10-12: Since the implementation of the career pathways/academy model, IPS only allows students to transfer schools once during their high school experience. This is to ensure that students receive the appropriate credits and graduate on time. Transfers must be verified through the central office. To enroll in grades 10-12, families must come to the downtown office.

Shortridge IB Programs: Because the International Baccalaureate programs require participation for at least two years, Shortridge does not allow new 12th grade enrollments unless the student can demonstrate prior IB experience.

Sidener Academy: In order to claim a seat at Sidener Academy, the student must pass a High Ability assessment. To schedule an assessment, please contact giftedandtalented@myips.org.

Montessori programs (IPS Schools 56, 87, and 91): IPS' Montessori programs will allow any student to claim a seat in pre-K or in grades K, 1, 4, and 7. Families interested in claiming a seat in grades 2, 3, 5, 6 or 8 must have prior Montessori experience to be eligible. To prove eligibility, you must bring proof of prior Montessori experience to the Enroll Indy office. Proof can consist of a student progress report, notes from a teacher, a report card, or a letter on school letterhead from the school leader or teacher. Contact info@enrollindy.org with questions.

Theodore Potter 74: Theodore Potter School 74 will consider all K-2 applicants for their Spanish Immersion program. If a student applies for Theodore Potter 74 for Grades 3-6, they must demonstrate a level of Spanish proficiency determined by the school. Please contact Tim Clevenger at clevengt@myips.org to learn how to become eligible.
